How to Get Speaking Practice
In this article, I will tell you how to get free speaking practice in Finnish. I will also share my experience on how I do it.
1. Facebook
On Facebook, you can often find ads for free Finnish lessons. Such free lessons are organized by local church communities. It's indeed a good practice, but they will try to persuade you to become a member of the church and pay church tax.
2. Free Meetings in Libraries
In Finland, any library is a center of social activity. There, you can get a room for almost any event for free, so people often gather to communicate in Finnish. You can find such a meeting on the library website (kirjasto).
3. Meetups on the Meetup Website
In Finland, many meetings are organized both in English and Finnish. You can find them on the meetup.com website. Find one that matches your interests and simply attend the event. I often go for city hikes and communicate with different people.
4. Using the Italki Service
I use the Italki service, where you can find a teacher in any language. I take lessons once a week for 30 minutes. One lesson costs 12 euros, but I am satisfied. Because I can choose a convenient time for myself, the topic we will discuss, and I can combine answers on topics and free dialogue. (Whether to take Swedish or Finnish)
As for speaking practice, I also did a mock speaking exam for the YKI test. And I recommend checking out the list of apps for test preparation. Tilanne - Speaking
